Britain’s enterprises are lacking in access security systems
According to a new survey issued at the begging of this year, over 59 percent of UK SMEs are exposed to a security breach as they do not invest in access security systems.
The survey, which was conducted by Digital ID company, discovered that 23 percent of UK businesses have very little visitor security. Other 36 percent of English companies have no visitor security systems at all. Overall, 59 percent of small and medium enterprises have only locks on doors and security lights. However, over half of the enterprises questioned admit that these two minimal security systems are not even in use during the working hours.
This lack of security systems represents a real threat not only to the employees and other enterprise assets but to the cyber data that represents the vital core of the enterprise. It is not just the equipment that can be stolen, but also the intellectual property.
A good example of such catastrophic security breach would be the TalkTalk platform. In this case, cyber data was ISP TalkTalk witnessed a huge customer exodus following a high-profile hack attack on its systems late last year. TalkTalk said 95,000 subscribers had vanished from the ISP in direct response to the hack attack. In total during the company’s third quarter, which ended on December 31 last year, TalkTalk lost 155,000 customers.
